EXHIBITION RED!

At the Gawler Gallery, Ulverstone Civic Centre, Patrick Street, Ulverstone from 10am every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday till end January 2019 :  An exhibition featuring the COLOUR RED!
Just about every medium is represented in this great Christmas exhibition, textiles, printmaking, watercolours, photography, pottery, felting, acrylic & resins, mosaics, pencil drawing, sculpting - a reflection of the combined talents of members of Leven Regional Arts.

The exhibition includes:

OFF THE WALL
Artist: Nick Scott Charlton

Nick is a prolific local artist, always in possession of amazing ideas which produce a myriad of pencil, digital and watercolour images. Nick’s talents extend to creating paper sculptures and other world environments, he often feels he has been delivered from another dimension – aren’t WE lucky that touchdown was right here in Ulverstone!! Nick’s constant companions are pen and paper, taking inspiration from every experience, feeling and emotion, images materialise in accentuated and colourful forms. Nick is a poet and story teller and recently enjoyed a brief encounter as a wedding crooner, a most enjoyable interlude.

AND

A TESSELLATION JOURNEY
Artist: Janice Stanfield

'I have always been fascinated by the drawings of M.C. Escher and after using bright scraps to create a “Comma” quilt, I challenged myself to design original tessellated shapes and incorporate them into patchwork quilts.
Squares, triangles and hexagons are natural tessellations with the negative spaces between being the same shape. The design in each quilt began either with a square, triangle or hexagon. It was then cut and manipulated into a different shape and used to produce a patchwork quilt.  For interested artists I will conduct a tessellation workshop toward the conclusion of this exhibition.'

Please leave your contact details with Gallery volunteers if you are interested in attending the workshop which will take place toward the end of January 2019 in the Gawler Gallery.
